Using Team-Based Learning in an Online, Asynchronous Information Literacy Course

Making information literacy instruction engaging to learners can be a challenge. Making it engaging in an online, asynchronous setting can be even more daunting. As students seek more opportunities for online learning, itâs becoming increasingly important to develop information literacy instruction that will promote engagement and enhance learning in the online environment. Team-Based Learning is a method of instruction that has transformed the atmosphere of a face-to-face information literacy course. This article explores the design and implementation of an online version of the same course where many of the benefits of Team-Based Learning were successfully transferred to the online setting.
